Finding Peace

God loves to bless His people, and He desires to bless us with peace!

Peace is a gift of God that far too many Christians have yet to receive.  The believer’s life can be riddled with all sorts of fear and worry that have no business residing in our hearts in the first place – and the bothersome fact about worry is that it is an oppressive dictator that controls every thought we think and every move we make.  And likewise, fear cripples us.

But what is peace?  I think peace is the state of ultimate confidence in Christ.  Christ longs to calm and quietly replenish our souls, and overwhelm us with “one grace after another and spiritual blessing upon spiritual blessing and even favor upon favor and gift heaped upon gift” (John 1:16).

It is easy to throw away your peace in favor of worrying about your finances if you believe that God will not provide for you.  It’s easy to throw away your peace in favor of constant fear about your safety if you believe that God will not protect you.  But obviously, that is to have a wrong perspective of our good Father.  Instead, recognize and remind yourself how strong, thoughtful, and unreasonably kind God is.  Even in troublesome times, we can fall back on a God who is working all things for our good – all things!

So I will trade in my fear and worry, thank you very much.  I’ll trade it in for the peace of Christ because I understand the nature of God toward me.  His plans are to prosper me and not to harm me, and to give me hope and a future.  I can rest soundly and face troubles with a natural ease because I can bank on the outcome: God is ALWAYS working for my good and His glory!  Heck, while I’m at it, I’ll get a little sassy and speak to the enemy… he can try to scare me and worry me, but that yipping Chihuahua is apparently a little rusty on the promises of God to take care of His children.

Peace?  Extended edition available today.  Simply put yourself, your situation, and God in all the right perspective.

Much love,
Josh
